Players of the match : Olivia C and Chloe R-S
Today’s match was certainly a proud moment for coach Mrs N! On Friday, the 1st VII, 2nd VII and 3rd VII had an excellent practice which looked at key weaknesses in S. Anselm’s game. The 1st VII warmed up well, they looked determined and confident before the game commenced. It has been wonderful seeing all the shooters practicing their shooting at breaktime and today in particular it certainly showed. In the first half, S. Anselm’s dominated the court. Attacking centre court play was outstanding, confident timing on the ball, strong accurate passing which resulted in goals scored from Arabella H and Olivia C. GS Olivia positioned brilliantly today which enabled the centre court players to pass the first time ball into her with confidence. At the end of the first quarter the score was 7 – 1 to S. Anselm’s, which was impressive and they fully deserved a positive constructive team talk at quarter time. We still had areas to work on though. In the second quarter, S. Anselm’s ensured that every centre pass was a goal, Emma H and Georgina H worked well together concentrating on man to man marking and pressure on shots. The attacking play from S. Anselm’s was enjoyable to watch and Mrs Northcott was impressed and happy with her team. Great play from Chloe R-S, Lily S and Arabella H in the second quarter ensured a 13 – 8 lead. In the second half, S. Anselm’s kept focussed and physically they looked fit and ready for action. Nancy S defended hard as WD along with Georgina H (GD) they marked well on Foremarke centre passes and backline passes. Chloe R-S, Lily S and Arabella H all timed their well positioned moves brilliantly which ensured that the ball flowed well from defence into attack. At ¾ time the score line was 19 – 8 and the full time score was 23 – 13 to S. Anselm’s. A huge well done to Chloe R-S who in the final seconds of the third quarter had a hard tumble and still came out determined and ready for action in the final quarter of the match – very courageous and gutsy which embodied the whole teams performance. Overall it was an impressive performance today and many congratulations to all players. We still have lots to work to do, Mrs Northcott believes in you as a team and as individual players. Today girls, you believed in yourselves and it showed in your performance throughout today – well done and many congratulations on a fabulous performance. Thank you to all our parents for their support, it was wonderful to see you all. MPN
