Player of the match : Lily S.
After a long journey in the minibus, the 1st VII finally arrived at Terra Nova. The team were ready for action after a good warm up. It took time for the team to adapt their play due to the fact that the surface was slippy. S. Anselm’s quickly changed their game and delayed their movement down the court in order to set up attacking play effectively. It was fantastic to see Annie G-P playing at WD and it was a change for the captain Nancy S to be playing GD. The ball flowed well from centre passes into attack and super accurate passing in the first quarter enabled S. Anselm’s to take the lead fast and furiously. Olivia and Arabella were both shooting well and positioned themselves well in the circle. Again, Lily S played well, she attacked the ball and created plenty of opportunities for the ball to be converted into goals for S. Anselm’s. Even though Chloe R-S ( centre) was unwell, she still battled on galiantly and created effective moves out of defence into attack. She never gave up! Annie G-P played with confidence as WD, pressurised the attack well, which allowed her to win possession frequently which was once again converted quickly into goals scored. Emma H and Nancy S worked well together. Emma collected good clear rebounds and won backline possession with super defending. Nancy S certainly blocked well and delayed Terra Nova’s movement around their shooting circle. At three quarter time, the team’s positions were totally switched around in order to make the game closer and more exciting. Annie G-P played lovely netball with Arabella H in the shooting circle, Olivia ( GD) also intercepted the ball successfully on many occasions to turn over the ball back into S. Anselm’s attack. The final score was 33 – 3 to S. Anselm’s a good win overall. Thank you to our parents for their support again, lovely to see you!
