This was a pleasing performance. The journey down to Grace Dieu was long and tedious and when the match eventually started there was constant pressure on our defence for two minutes before we conceded the first goal. Not a good start and at that stage I'd have settled for not losing by more than six! However, the team had other ideas, settled, rallied and gradually asserted control over the match. A cracking long-range shot from Charlie T levelled the scores. Into the second half, James C crafted the second which proved to be the winner. Grace Dieu came back strongly towards the end, but with John B performing heroics on his debut in goal to be the man of the match, they couldn't score. It's good to note that while the opposition created more chances than us, we played with a grit and determination (which Mr Morse would have recognised and applauded from the rugby season) that made all the difference.
