The boys were looking forward to the last match of the season a Twenty/20 match at Lady Manners. Jack H won the toss and asked Lady Manners to bat. The Lady Manners number one was the best batsmen we had faced all season and was dispatching the ordinary bowling to all parts having hit five 4's and two six's in only 5 and a half overs before being run out by a brilliant piece of fielding by John W. The tide of runs was stemmed for a while when Will A and Charlie H bowled, with Will taking one wicket and Charlie taking four wickets in an excellent spell. Unfortunately the back up bowlers leaked far too many runs at the end of the innings and Lady Manners amssed a fordible total of 156 in their 20 overs.
S.Anselm's needed a good start but Charlie H departed quickly for 4, followed swiftly by Freddie H 7 & Jack H 2. There was then a good partnership between Elliott W and Jack M-M who scored 15 and 23 respectively. But once they were ot the innings subsided to 114 and a loss by 42 runs recorded, a disappointing end to the season.
It has been a pleasure to coach a good group of boys who always did their best against opposition on a very challenging fixture list. Well done.
