Trent 129-9 (30 overs) S. Anselm’s 63 all out (24 overs)
A good team doesn’t become a poor one overnight. This team has an abundance of talent and are very capable of great things. As a group they need to really focus, the concentration levels especially when fielding in this match were very poor ( nine catches dropped), they have to believe in themselves and encourage each other.
To restrict a good Trent side to 129 in 30 overs was a good performance but what would it have been if the catches had been taken? James B bowled superbly taking 5 for 13 in his 6 overs, David C took two wickets with Max H and Jack H chipping in with one wicket each. The bowling was still too erratic with many wides and no balls bowled and a total of 32 extras were conceded.
To be chasing just over 4 runs an over was achievable with application, the pitch was difficult to bat on and Trent had a good bowling attack, but the batting display that followed was one I hope I never witness again. A total of six ducks were recorded the most in a single innings over my 35 years being connected with cricket. All of these were due to poor shot selection and lack of foot movement. Only James B who scored 32 (the highest individual score in the match) and Alfred H 11 not out showed any application and fight.
The team now need to practice hard and get back to winning ways against Yarlet next week.
