This was a simply fantastic effort from the XV.
Playing against a very well drilled and determined Maidwell XV (in fairness to Maidwell I must report that they were with out a couple of their 1st team regulars) the S. Anselm's 1st XV showed passion, energy and an unerring team spirit.
All aspects of the match were evenly fought; Maidwell winning out in the battle at the breakdown but SA proving more adept at offloading the ball just short of contact and possessing more firepower in the back division (the exception being the Maidwell left wing who was a real handful and kept GM busy all afternoon).
Each player gave of their very best and they can, to a man, be very proud of their efforts in both attack and defence. Special mention however must go to JW for his hat trick of tries in his finest performance in a 1st XV shirt.
As the players know they can expect nothing but honesty from their coach -if they play poorly they know that they will receive criticism if they play well they receive praise. Today they have had nothing but the highest of compliments and they thoroughly deserve their success; well done to all.
(We will, of course, be back in training on Friday as we prepare for the match against Witham hall)
