Gayhurst were not particularly strong at this level but our boys played better than they have so far this season and there were inspirational moments: fabulous shots at goal by Andrew C, great heading and passing by John W, cracking passing and shooting by Kevin H and some valiant defence by Matthew N, Jonathan D, Lewis H and Bertie W.

We managed to put three goals past them in the first half as we began to control the ball better and probe into the far sides of the pitch and into the corners. The width of our play stretched the defences. As the goals went in our confidence and energy grew and there were some great passages of play and some good skills shown. The second half was equally as encouraging but Gayhurst scored in the closing minutes because we had switched off a little. We did reply with a goal soon after this..

So, all in all, a much improved performance but we still need to work on our first touch, the accuracy of our long passes and our discipline in defence. 

Well done indeed lads – you should be very proud!
