2nd VII v Hill House Lost 2-1

2nd VII v Hill House Lost 2-1

Well despite some very soggy weather the girls were all smiles and ready for their match against Hill House at the Aurora Sports’ Club in Rotherham. The score line could really have gone either way and we were unlucky to come away with a loss.

Player of the Match went to Fran F for some super work around the pitch – she put in some excellent tackles, distributed the ball intelligently and cleared the ball well out from defence. She worked very well with Lucy R who used her strong hits to great advantage and was quick off the mark with the self pass rule. Hannah S came on in the second quarter and got straight into the zone and scored our only goal of the match. However, as a team we created a lot of scoring opportunities which bodes well for future meets – just need to be a bit more determined to follow up the initial shots. Also credit for keeping Hill House score low should definitely go to Fran B in goal who made some excellent saves, despite occasionally being left quite exposed at the back.

Going forward we should have more confidence to dribble with the ball and use the space, and put a more convincing press on the opposition’s defence.

It was super to see everyone enjoying their sport, especially evident from the team spirit in the bus on the way home! Thank you to Miss Skipp for all her help match managing the team – and of course navigating! Thank you to the supporters who braved the wind and the rain in the dug out. Well done everyone!
