The 2nd XI lost a very competitive match by a small margin. Bowling first the side bowled and fielded well with John B and Ben D bowling particularly well, Birkdale were restricted to 125-6 in their innings. The S.Anselm’s innings began disastrously with a flurry of wicket and only Ben D standing firm. Oliver N produced a good display of hitting and scored a useful 43. Ben D batted all the way through the innings for a good score of 40 but none of the other batsman made significant contributions and S.Anselm’s fell 9 runs short of their target. A lot of work is required in practices on improving batting techniques, nonetheless a promising start to the season.
