Denstone College 170 for 6 wickets (25 overs) S. Anselm's 156 for 7 wickets (25 overs)
Denstone batted first and got off to a flying start, during the Denstone innings the S. Anselm’s bowling was very wayward and the fielding lacked focus. Unfortunately S.Anselm’s gave away 50 runs as extras, including 30 wides, this in a total of 170 for 6 wickets in 25 overs. The pick of the S.Anselm’s bowlers was Elliot W who bowled 6 overs and took 3 wickets. The total to chase was an imposing one and this became even more apparent when some early wickets fell. Alfred H came in at number 3 and steadied the innings, he played some fantastic shots and made an excellent 51, but departed with a couple of overs remaining. Freddie R-S tried his hardest to see the team through to victory with an uncompromising innings , hitting 22 from one over and was eventually caught on the boundary for 33. Unfortunately the overs ran out and the run chase finished on 157 for 7 wickets. After a poor start in the field the boys should be very proud of the way they never gave up and that they almost pulled off an unlikely victory.
