2nd XI v Hill House Lost 7-5

I hate to say it, but this was most definitely a game of two halves. In the first half we started slowly but scored some sublime goals and were 5-1 up at half time. Bertie W and John W were supplying the front four with some excellent ball over the top and the strikers were getting themselves into good positions. We were feeding the wingers down in the corners and both Andy C and Patrick C lofted some great crosses into the box to ensure we scored. Kevin H and Seb H worked well together and looked very strong. All in all we were committed, enthusiastic and displayed some fine skills.

The second half was poor. Our backline crumbled and we failed to put their strikers under pressure. We played with the ball in front of the goal rather than clearing our lines, the midfield failed to get back and support quickly enough and we definitely dropped down a gear. Unfortunately we were not helped by the wind and played most of the second half in our half of the field.

The lads were, rightly, disappointed with themselves as they had worked so hard in the first half and had looked so strong but in the second half their energy, focus and work rate had fallen away.
