2nd XI v Ranby House Lost 6-2

Goal scorers – Andrew C / Sebastian H

The boys gave a spirited performance and showed that they have developed as a side. Throughout the game they had some strong offensive passages and looked like scoring more than the two well worked goals that they achieved (one in each half of the game). Weaknesses included the first touch which was often poor, the back line often let their opponents get away from them (this led to at least three of the goals)  and they failed to use the width and pass the ball down the flanks. At times they were very tentative too.

Nevertheless, the backline did look stronger than before and they harried the opposition and forced them to work hard for the goals. John W worked hard in mid-field and Kevin H and Seb H looked strong up front. Matthew N was strong in defence and was able to feed lots of good ball up to the strikers as did Bertie W. So all in all this was a reasonable performance but weaknesses in the back line and some poor skills at times let us down.

At training on Friday we will be working on controlling the ball with our first touch, using the width of the pitch and closing our opponents down when they have the ball.
