2nd XI v Westbourne Won 3-1

Man of Match – James Bourn

The two sides were both unprepared due to the snowy conditions in previous weeks yet this was a fun match to watch in which both sides showed some promise.
Westbourne scored within five minutes and it looked like S. Anselm’s were going to suffer a defeat. However, the boys immediately rallied and Matthew B hit a great shot into the back of the net to level the scores straight away. S. Anselms then managed to keep the ball in the opposition half and Kevin H and Charles A also scored.
The victory was due chiefly to the fact that the team was motivated and enthused. They concentrated well and hassled their opponents when they had the ball. Toby S lofted in some excellent crosses that Matthew B and Kevin H were able to take advantage of. Montagu C ran hard and Paddy D proved himself to be a skilful little player. At the back James B and Jacques T steadied their line and ensured very little got through, giving their opponents little time on the ball.
We need to spread the ball wider and avoid over committing men to the tackle. We also need to work on our control and the first touch. Nevertheless, this was strong performance. Captain in the next game will be Montagu C.
