2nd XI v Westbourne Lost 3-2
From the very start of the game it was very clear that it was going to be a far tougher test than last week. Westbourne started on the front foot and without a string of fine saves from Harry we could have been a couple of goals down early on. Somewhat against the run of play Edward was able to pounce on a loose ball and slotted the ball home for the first goal of the game. Just as it looked like we were going to be 1-0 up at half time, Westbourne broke and lobbed Harry to make it 1-1 going into the break. S. Anselm's were improving as the game went on and were unlucky not regain the lead. Unfortunately Westbourne scored 2 quick goals to go 3-1 up. The last few minutes were one way traffic as S. Anselm's fighting spirit came to the fore. With a few minutes to go Montague scored from close range. With seconds left to go we were awarded a free kick in the Westbourne penalty area for a back pass. Ben hit the ball well but it was cleared from the line. A fantastic effort from the whole team. The opposition coach again praised the boys for the sporting manner in which the game was played and conceded that a draw would have been a fair result.
