2nd XV v Lady Manners Lost 22-5

Once again the sun shone upon the 2nd XV, making it a glorious afternoon for some rugby. The challenge of playing Lady Manners is always a game to look forward and this was no disappointment. The early part of the game showed terrific promise with S.Anselm’s forwards dominating breakdowns, working well as a pack. S.Anselm’s scored first as a result of a superb backline run between Andrew C and Lewis H, with Andrew bursting through to put in the try. As the game wore on the team-play degraded gradually leaving a second half of mostly individual performances and allowing the opposition to put in a try, despite great defensive efforts. Hugo R, the Captain, was especially effective in holding up the ball within the try area to deny two attempts to score. Sadly the closing moments of the game opened the floodgates and allowed Lady Manners the dominance to put in three successive tries for their outstanding scrum half. Highlights of the afternoon included: Tobias P, scaring an opposition player into touch without touching him, Hugo R for single bundling three of the opposition over the side line in one hit, and some epic defensive tackles from Jonathan D and Isaac S.

Man of the match is Jonathan D, for superb tackling technique.
