2nd XV v Maidwell Hall Lost 14-5

Maidwell were a fairly good outfit but we could have won this. We were still sleepy after the 2 hour journey and Maidwell had a big centre who ran in two tries in the first 10 minutes. After this we toughed it out and were camped in the opposition half for most of the match. This led to a good try by Henry S – the result of some good recycling. We went across the line on another occasion too but the ref could not see under the pile of bodies.
Our greatest error was to be sleepy in the early stages and fail to tackle, however after this we were to spill the ball forward too often and at critical moments. We must work on ball retention!
Well done to all the players and to Kevin H, Hugo R and other players who slotted into unusual positions. Better needed next time!
