2nd XV v Ranby House Won 12-0

This was a thrilling performance. For the first 10 -15 minutes the boys had to tough it out against a rather large but not particularly lively side. Ranby tried to bash it down the middle with their rotund pack and we managed to absorb a great deal of pressure. At this early stage it could have gone either way.

Slowly but surely, S. Anselm’s re-asserted themselves and started to ruck the ball out and supply their electric back line. The ball was swung along the line at great speed and the backs crashed through their ponderous opponents. Some quick tap penalties and loads of energy and pace meant that we started to move Ranby around the park and make life difficult for them. Freddie H scored a fabulous try which came as a result of extensive pressure exerted on their back-line and later Charlie H scored a beautiful try during which the ball must have gone through the hands of every member of the team. Freddie H (once he had found his kicking tee) managed to convert one of the tries too.

The last five minutes was a little lack lustre but on the whole this was a mighty performance by a team that has bags of potential! Everyone played out of their skins and were superb but special mention must go to Charlie H, Will H, Jack M-M, Jack H, Alex V and Henry S.
