2nd XV v Trent College Lost 29-0

A stupendous battle ensued upon arrival. Trent were excellent opposition displaying size, speed and skill in abundance. From the first touches of the ball it became clear it would be a defending game. Charlie S and Jonathan D were quick to rise to the challenge by continually throwing themselves into the fray. It was always just a matter of time until the first points were conceeded and within 5 minutes the first opposition try was battered through the S.Anselm's defence despite Theodore H hitting a valiant try line tackle.

The forwards battled valiantly and despite continually winning the ball from scrums and lineouts, the heavy defensive traffic quickly staunched any attack. Notable confiedence was exuded from Nick P, who was keen to use his new found pace.

The first half ended with Anselms 22 points behind, but far from finished. With renewed vigour the forwards did their utmost to gain precious territory and the backs deployed a more intelligent approach. However this was all to no avail and sadly we were unable to consolidate on any gains made. The defence remained stoic and respectably only allowed one more try through. It would be nice to say that we came near to scoring or that we even got into the opposition 22, but that would be too greater work of fiction for this report. The greatest boast we can offer is of a team who held together until the end, very much in the face of certain defeat, and whom tackled with outstanding determination.

Men of the match were Charlie S and Jonathan D.
