Year 3 were thrilled when Christian brought in a piece of wood which archaeologists believe dates back to the Bronze Age!

The piece of wood is from Must Farm in Peterborough and has been preserved in the peat since 1200BC. The wood belonged to a round house that was built on stilts over water. No human remains were found so historians think that the people left their village in a hurry, possibly due to a fire. The fire burnt the stilts and the houses slipped into the silt where they have be preserved for all these years.

We each took turns to carefully handle the ancient object and it linked in perfectly with our topic on Early Man as we are about to start studying the Bronze Age.

Thank you to Christian and his mum for bringing the object into school.
