Player of the Match Alice S
It was a stunning autumnal afternoon on the wonderful astro facilities at Repton School and the girls excitedly tumbled out of the coach ready to enjoy their hockey.
Unfortunately we were comprehensively out played by an altogether stronger squad – but with 77 girls for the Foremarke coach to choose from it was always going to be a bit of a challenge! However, our girls held their heads up and never gave up – a great spirit and a great sense of determination which was super to see. Player of the match went to Alice S for a tremendous performance – without her the score line would have been very different indeed – she saved shot after shot after shot – the pressure from the Foremarke forwards was intense and relentless. At the end of the game she was also singled out by the host coach who commented that she “would be one to watch”! – well done Alice S. Along side her, the two backs – Erin S and Ella R – also should be very highly commended. The work rate for the two defenders was most impressive, they never gave up and put in tackle after tackle.
Everyone enjoyed the experience and will definitely have learnt through the opportunity – we look forward to put it all into practice in the next match. But please girls all remember your protective gear in future (not to be left in the coach!) – we really can’t afford to turn up without a squad to roll on and off players with fresh legs; it puts us under unnecessary pressure from the off.
Thank you to those who supported us from the sidelines.
