3rd XI Cricket v Foremarke Hall Drew

S.Anselm’s 72-8 (27 overs) drew with

Foremarke Hall 137-5 (30 overs)

A fantastic afternoon’s weather accompanied the 3rd XI’s first outing of the season against Foremarke. Having won the toss Foremarke elected to bat on the grounds that the game was to be played on a time basis.

The bowling was opened Alfie H despite a number of extras he was able to secure the Anselm’s team an early wicket from LBW. David C followed this swiftly with another wicket ,sadly at this point the batting team rallied well and were able to see the innings out, only loosing another 3 wickets. There were some courageous displays in the field, particularly from Alfie who was extremely active with his interceptions and backing up. Sam W captained the side immensely well throughout the match.

Foremarke declared after tea on a score of 137 runs for 5. The batting was opened by Sam W and David C who both gave creditable performances in the face of a series of fast bowlers. Due to the severity of the bowling it quickly became apparent that a win was clearly not achievable and Anselm’s played for the draw. Harry R-S gave the best performance with the bat he scopred 22. Dominic A must be mentioned for his enthusiasm with the bat and notching up 16 runs.

The afternoon ended when time ran out, with Anselm’s having scored 72 runs for 8 leaving us with a draw. Good effort chaps the game was played in great spirit and with true sportsmanship.
