3rd XI v Grace Dieu Won by 140 runs

This was a one sided match on a small pitch but the 3rds gained a great deal of confidence from the game and learnt about their strengths and weaknesses. We batted first and Edward H scored a promising 23. After a slow start Kevin H then scored 50 and Charlie L surprised us all with his magnificent 67 Charlie A, Ben E did well and Henry F will be pleased with his 24. Grace Dieu’s bowling was a little wayward but our boys did well to exploit their errors.

When it was our turn to field we placed our boys out on the rather small boundary and our bowlers made sure that every ball was carefully delivered so we avoided excessive wides and gave them little chance to hit out for 4s and 6s on the small pitch. Edward H and Ben E bowled very well as expected and Lewis J and Nick T also showed that they had great ability - both taking some wickets. Some stunning fielding by Charlie L and Chuck A also helped us achieve a fine victory as did some Kevin H’s wicket keeping.

We arrived in the rain but left victorious in the glorious sunshine!
