3rd XI v Trent College Won by 5 wickets

This superb match, started under the dubious weather conditions that have prevailed throughout the season. However the afternoon yielded real moments of brilliance in terms of weather and particularly the cricket. It was decided to limit the game to 20:20 in an effort to beat any impending showers.

Vice Captain, Charles A was fortunate to win the toss and opted to field first. Some solid bowling immediately put the Trent batsman under pressure. It was in the field that the game was a great Anselm’s success. Catches were plucked from the air throughout the afternoon. Captain Alex T set his field well and the team worked superbly together as a unit. Henry F took two superb catches and secured the catch of the match, securing a hard ball pelted straight at him. The bowlers gathered pace as the afternoon wore on and Ben E, Henry F, Charles A, Nick P all took a pair of wickets each. The innings were curtailed early as a heavy shower arrived, with impeccable precision timing, to stop for tea. One batsman remained after tea and was quickly dismissed to leave Trent all out for 93 runs off of 15 overs.

S.Anselm’s took a slow start to their batting, with some early dismissals causing only a slight concern. Opening bat Henry F strode through to 24 runs a total that was only even closely chased by the 23, not out secured by Henry T. Luck was truly with the majority of the team, with a number of catches dropped by the Trent side and this coupled with bowling inconsistency, made Anselm’s unstoppable. Charlie L was going strong in bat when an attempt at a ’Dilshan-esque’ trick shot curtailed him at 13 runs.  With the sun shining 3rds achieved the total required smoothly within 15 overs.

Well done chaps, great cricket.

Man of the match: Henry F for great bowling, fielding and batting.
