5th Year Boarders' outing to Edgeley Park

On Friday 24 April, the 5th year boy boarders went to Edgeley Park to watch the final home game of the season for Stockport County. They were playing against Cheshire rivals, Crewe Alexandra. Crewe needed a victory to alleviate the threat of relegation, and with Stockport in financial trouble, and having scored just one goal in the past 6 games, a low-scoring, tense affair was predicted.

And how wrong we were!

The goal-fest finished 4-3 to Stockport, including an exquisite chip from the home side’s Oli Johnson, and a last minute consolation for Crewe from 35 yards.

The result left Stockport in mid-table and Crewe struggling for safety in the division.

The boarders, busy preparing for CE and scholarship exams, enjoyed some light relief from their studies and an opportunity to see the beautiful game played with the passion that only a local derby produces.

My thanks go to Mr Watt for accompanying us on the trip.
