Author Dean Wood visits for World Book Day

World Book Day –Thursday 5th March

On World Book Day the pupils and teachers in Years 2, 3 and 4 all enjoyed a visit from local author, Dean Wood. The children listened attentively to Dean’s wonderful introduction about the different things that inspired him to create the storyline and characters in his book. Sharon Wood, Dean’s sister, illustrated the book and the pupils loved looking at her images, from the initial drafts to the colourful and detailed finished pictures.

Dean’s message to the children was clear; always try hard, believe in yourself and never give up! This positive attitude obviously caught the children’s attention and Dean was inundated with many interesting questions to conclude his talk.

The children were clearly inspired by Dean’s wise words and many couldn’t wait to get their hands on his book, Michael Moon and the Cauldron of Wishes, the first in a series of seven.
