Saturday night saw the first serious snow of the season, much to the excitement of the Boarders. A little bit of the white stuff proved no problem for our excellent minibus drivers Mrs Elvin and Mr Watt, however, and after a full English breakfast we departed for the Chesterfield Bowl. It would be fair to say that it took a while to get everyone into the minibuses, however; the opportunity for a snowball fight proving to be a major distraction. Everyone enjoyed the two games of 10 Pin Bowling, especially part way through the second game, when the lights were dimmed and we had a go at ‘glow bowling’. Key bowlers of the day were Luke Dobson, Tom Hartley, Ella Hill, Arthur Effront and Mrs B – with all comfortably scoring over 120 in their games.
After a fun filled morning we headed off to the golden arches (McDonald’s), for some much needed refreshment, before heading back to school. Everyone enjoyed some outdoor play in the snow, but there was not quite enough to finish the igloo on bottom court. Then it was time to check emails, enjoy some unihoc and 5 aside football in the sports hall, before a sumptious chicken Sunday roast and letter writing session. Everyone headed off to bed with full tummies and a smile on their faces, with the Head of Schoolhouse (Toby) declaring – “this has been one of my favourite days ever – bowling and a trip to McDonald’s and to cap it all we had snow!” DLB
