On Friday 2nd December Mrs Bennion and Mrs Scott took fourteen keen girls to the NEC in Birmingham to visit The Clothes Show Live 2016.
The morning was spent looking round the stalls in the huge exhibition space. There were stands representing textile and fashion courses offered by universities, workshops where you could learn to knit or crochet and many other stands selling clothes, make-up and beauty products. The girls seemed to do very well with getting free samples of products!
Mrs Scott and Mrs Bennion were amused to observe the effect caused by the appearance of Joey Essex on the crowd of teenage girls. S. Anselm’s girls took it all in their stride. In the afternoon we watched a fabulous catwalk show with amazing clothes, models, dancers, great lighting and live music. The saxophonist and singers were especially impressive.
The fashion show was organised in themes, and it was inspiring to see the way the designers had created such different and imaginative looks. Many of the girls were keen to visit again next year, but this was the last year of The Clothes Show being held at the NEC. Next year it moves to Liverpool, so perhaps this could be a trip for December 2017!
