On Thursday evening, Kinder invited next year’s Kinder to a
home-cooked meal in the College. Current Kinder had sorted out their menu,
collected RSVPs, decorated the College and cooked and prepared the food. Year 8
were welcomed into the College with a flute of Shloer and some nibbles. As they
had chosen an Asian-themed menu, lots of appropriate decorations were used to
transform the College and they even played appropriate music from one of the
laptops. The first course was spring rolls and sweet chilli dip. This was
followed by Thai green curry with sticky rice and prawn crackers (eaten with
chopsticks!), then profiteroles with lychees.
We played ‘Chinese whispers’ at
the table and then retired to the Common Room, where Year 8 asked some
questions about life in the College and Kinder highlighted their favourite
moments so far. It was a lovely evening and I can see already how tightly knit
the College will be next year.
