On Sunday evening, 17th May, five S. Anselm’s pupils were confirmed at All Saints’ Parish Church in Bakewell. Louis, Freddie, Edward, Natalie and Violet, supported by their families and friends and S. Anselm’s boarding pupils and staff, were presented to Bishop Alastair Redfern, Bishop of Derby by Canon Tony Kaunhoven. There were seven confirmation candidates in all including two adults from the diocese, Angela and Joanna. Canon Tony had prepared our pupils in the weeks running up to Confirmation and Mrs Franklin, who supported the candidates throughout, also took part in the service.
The service was meaningful and enhanced by the singing of the church choir. Bishop Redfern spoke with gentle sincerity referring to Saint Julian of Norwich and achieving ‘wholeness’; it was an evening to remember for all involved. Refreshments were provided in the Newark after the service. Congratulations to those who were confirmed and sincere thanks to Canon Tony for his time and teaching.
