Exams finished, Evensong and Parent & Child Golf Day

With exams finished and all of the Year 8s jubilant after hearing that they had all got into their Senior Schools there has been a huge relief in the boarding house and all of the pupils looking forward to a less pressurised weekend. The Downs Malvern were meant to be joining us this weekend on a mini cricket tour but due to the inclement weather conditions the cricket was called off and the visitors remained down south. This did allow for an enjoyable indoor cricket tournament for the boys and a swim for the girls.

After free time the boarders settled down for Saturday night treat. We were delighted to welcome Lizzie R who will be joining us in September for the weekend. There were four films on Saturday, the senior girls watched ‘The Break Up’, the junior girls watched ‘Just My Luck’, the senior boys watched ‘S.W.A.T’ and the junior boys enjoyed singing their hearts out to ‘Frozen’.

After a delicious Sunday full English breakfast the boarders got on their mucky clothes for a cycle along the Monsal Trail with Mr Watt and Mrs Whawell. The children all thoroughly enjoyed their cycle and got back in time for lunch. In the afternoon it was the Parent and Child Golf Day. Some of the boarders had sought out surrogate mothers and fathers so that they could also compete. Please do have a look on the website at the Parent and Child Golf Day if you get the chance, it was a fantastic afternoon.

The Chapel Choir went to All Saints Church in Matlock on Sunday evening with Mr Percival. They did superbly in what was a very traditional and quite lengthy service. We have been so lucky recently with the music including visiting Mr and Dr Stansfield’s beautiful home for a concert.

On Thursday it is Exeat and then the final stretch to the end of term. It has been so enjoyable this term with the flexi boarders and weekly boarders really making the evening activities busy and enjoyable. Please let Mrs Phillips know the days in which you want your child to board. On a quick housekeeping note, please can all items be name labelled and flexi boarders need to remember to take everything from the boarding house at the end of each flexi board. Thank you!
