Boarders First Weekend Back

It has been a hugely enjoyable first week back in the boarding house. This term we are trialling a slightly new timetable for the evenings. This is to allow the Junior boarders more activity time and also allows them to be up for showers and in their dorms earlier. So far it is working superbly.

5.00 pm           Prep
5.30 pm           Junior Music Practice
6.00 pm           Boarders Change into Mufti
6.10 pm           Supper
6.40 pm           Junior Activities
                        Senior Music Practice
7.00 pm           Senior Activities
7.30 pm           Junior Cocoa & Toast
                        Junior Showers
8.00 pm           Senior Cocoa & Toast
8.15 pm           Senior Showers

This weekend saw the 1st XI begin their cricket season with a fine win over St Hugh’s over in Woodhall Spa and the girls celebrated a great victory against the same side.  That evening the boys and girls returned in good spirits, hungry for supper and looking forward to catching up with each other and settling into Saturday Night Treat. Tuck is always a highlight on Saturday evenings! The boarders dressed into comfies for the chosen films; Hancock for the seniors and Bewitched for the juniors.

After what has been very busy week a lie in was much enjoyed by all. From 8.30am the boys and girls are allowed to quietly head down to the Sky TV, allowing those who really enjoy their lie ins to do so. We all enjoyed a Full English Breakfast at 9.30 am, which set us up for the day ahead. The weather was far better than had been forecast and so we made the most of it with hard ball cricket nets in the morning and a few games of rounders. Just before lunch all of the boarders played manhunt, a favourite pastime amongst most, around the school grounds. It was the perfect first weekend back, relaxed but lots of activities to get our teeth into. We skipped down to Bakewell to enjoy the swings and play area before getting back for a little free time before a delicious Sunday Roast.

Next week is Exeat and I hope you all enjoy it. Please can I remind full boarders to bring back sleeping bag, roll mat, pillow, torch or head torch, wellies, waterproof clothing and extra warm clothing ie hoodie and tracksuit bottoms for our camping later in the term.
