Halloween Weekend Boarding Report
What a fabulous week it has been. A week full of festivities, screams, laughs and plenty of candy. After the Zombie Chase, described by many as the best night of the year other than the Boarders’ Feast of course we have continued the fun through the weekend. On Saturday the boys and senior girls all had House Matches, followed by a very enjoyable World Cup Final on the cinema style screen in the Hargreaves Hall. It was great to see parents joining their children and cheering for their Southern Hemisphere favourites! After an early supper Mr Percival and Mr Shepherd took the older boarders to see Pirates of Penzance at Buxton, which was enjoyed by all. The younger boarders enjoyed watching Cheaper by the Dozen together but not until we had sneakily put our Halloween Costumes on and nipped down to Mr & Mrs Phillip’s House to get one last scare in on Halloween. Fortunately Miss Phillips was well prepared with plenty of treats and not tricks.
A much needed lie in was enjoyed by all. The Year 8s were given their £1 pocket money to spend in Bakewell. I have been hugely impressed with the Year 8s this year, they take on their responsibilities and have proved a trustworthy and very enjoyable group to have at the top of the School.
Back at base we busily prepared the Halloween games. Eating donuts with no hands, put the tail on the witch, clapplause for the best dressed, hit the hat – trick or treat and of course Apple Bobbing (the S. Anselm’s Way)…see photos for full effects:
After the excitement the boarders enjoyed a swim with Miss Phillips and Miss Southam and a couple of boys headed off with Mr Wood, Mr Shepherd and Mr Robinson to play 6 holes at Bakewell Golf Club.
