S. Anselm’s Innovation Centre
For some time we have wished to develop an Innovation Centre at S. Anselm’s. I am excited to tell you that we have finally started. This has been made possible with the kind help and support of the Friends of S. Anselm’s and the enthusiasm of the Governors.
The centre will be focussed on giving children a real hands-on experience of inventing, designing and building their own creations. The centre is designed to create a free-flowing imaginative environment.
The innovation centre will focus around the use of Lego EV3 and We-Do programming and robotics, Lego Architecture, K’Nex, 3D printing and other stand-alone resources such as the MeArm. We will have a full bank of computers and ipads available for the children to develop their IT skills whilst linking them to real-life problems, models and creations. This will be further supported by two 3D printers which have been kindly donated by Mr and Mrs David Smith.
In order to provide the children with the best experience possible we would like to build up a good stock of basic Lego bricks and baseboards. We are asking for your support by way of a “Lego drop”. If you have any unwanted Lego about the house or tucked away in the garage which you would like to donate to the Innovation Centre, we would welcome it in school. A tub will be placed in the foyer for all Lego contributions. Any contributions no matter how small are welcomed. Be ruthless at home and help our cause!
This is a really exciting time in school and we know the Innovation Centre will provide another dimension to the children’s learning.
