Latin is an interesting and worthwhile subject in itself and pupils usually find it a satisfying area of study. Latin also develops thinking and problem-solving skills and it facilitates the learning of many modern languages including Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
A GCSE in Latin is a definite plus for university applications for courses in arts and law. The College programme leads to GCSE in Latin Language, and for those with some prior knowledge of the subject a text based Literature option is possible, leading to a second GCSE.
The examining board is in the process of revising its syllabus and an option for our pupils to study Latin and Roman Civilisation may become available.
