On Thursday 6th October at 1:15pm in the School Library we look forward to our first informal concert this term. We welcome friends and family of the performers (the perfomers list available in the secure parents section of the school website) and tea & coffee will be available in the library beforehand.
College pupils will be fortunate enough on Thursday to participate in a singing workshop with professional Mezzo Soprano vocal coach Nicola Hunt during lunch break. This is an opportunity to have fun and find their maturing voices.
Also on Thursday 6th October, fifteen Y6, 7 & 8 pupils will be visiting the Bridgewater Hall Manchester to watch a performance of the magnificent Beethoven 9 Choral Symphony. A late return is expected approximately 11pm. Please contact the office immediately if you would like your child to board that evening.
Two weeks ago during assembly, we were treated to an introduction and performance on bassoon. Sam Chichester-Clark who is taking grade 4 bassoon in November accompanied his teacher Ms Jackson who has space, and a school bassoon to teach one other pupil. If anyone would care to have a trial then Ms Jackson has kindly offered to trial people at morning break on Friday. Please consider size before trying as the bassoon is a wonderfully versatile instrument, but is not small!
Strings of the North Workshop.
On Sunday 2nd October S. Anselm's hosted the Strings of the North harp workshop day in which performers arrived from all over the North of England. Louise Thomson, S. Anselm's wonderful harp and piano teacher and colleague Rachel Dent delivered fabulous workshops which culminated in a relaxing evening concert attended by parents and school boarders. S. Anselm's pupils included Oscar, Ursula and Lily.
