OA Day to celebrate Hugh Price's 40 Years at S. Anselm's

S. Anselm's welcomed back over 200 OAs and their families on Sunday afternoon to celebrate Hugh Price's 40 years here. A happier crowd in all of Derbyshire would have been harder to find.  Following a delicious lunch lovingly prepared by Julie and her first-rate team, John Boddy, OA 1953 and School Governor, gave a marvellous tribute to Mr Price before Richard Hargreaves (OA 1976) and current pupil Freddie M presented a copy of the S. Anselm's 125 Book signed by all present.  Mr Price responded with a memorable thank you to everyone for being there and shared a few memories of his remarkable tenure.

There were a few tears shed by members of the assembled guests.  Then the athletic part of the day (following the tremendous effort of the cyclists) began with the Strollers playing a team of OAs (Leavers from 1965 to 2013!), magnificently organised by Steve Drury.  And the current Year 7 and 8 boarders played the 2013 Leavers - a match I think Mrs Brailich might say had several amazing moments but also provided a great deal of entertainment.

Thank you to Julie Greatrex, Steve Drury, Donna Brailich, John Boddy, Alison Whawell, Jo Litchfield for her photographs, Sara Taylor and Freddie M for making it such a memorable afternoon.
