Spanish plates by Reception
Reception embraced our Spanish day and really impressed me with their enthusiasm to learn some Spanish. We greeted each other with Hola, buenas dias and at snack had to ask for agua or leche remembering of course to say por favor and gracias.
The next task was to count and to learn some animal names. Each child made a Spanish booklet with the national flag, a flamenco dancer with a very stylish skirt and matched numbers to the correct quantity which they had to count in Spanish! After a scrummy lunch of paella and sangria, the children embarked on some flamenco dancing with real pro. They learnt to clap and stamp their feet in time to the music and move their arms in very macho fashion shouting OLE!
Back in the classroom we looked at some typical Andalusian pottery and had a go at recreating the pattern using similar colours. As you can see we have some budding artists coming through the school and some very talented linguists.
