S. Anselm's Equestrian Team at the NSEA Championships

Over half term the S Anselm’s Equestrian Team comprising Violet Barton (yr 8), Tara O’Rourke (yr8), Rosie Winter (yr6) and Alice Winter (yr5) travelled to Addington Manor, near Buckingham for the National School Equestrian Association Championships.  Qualifying for this prestigious event is a fiercely competitive challenge and the team had done very well to earn a place earlier in the year for the Area Eventing Championship class, competing against teams from schools all over the country.

Violet Barton on Ernford Ballotbox, Rosie Winter riding Harry and Alice Winter riding Rolly Rascal being given a bit of pre competition encouragement by Tara O’Rourke.

Realising the high standard required at the National Championships, the busy Mums had arranged extra training sessions to help prepare the children and ponies for the tough competition.

Sadly Tara O’ suffered an injury at the IAPs hockey tournament two days before the big weekend and so was supporting from the sidelines again, and the team was 3 riders instead of 4.

However, despite this setback, our girls soaked up the atmosphere and bustle of the Championships.  They proudly wore their team coats, displayed the school emblem on their stables and even had the shield spraypainted on their ponies’ hindquarters!

They all produced strong performances and, although they were out of the rosettes they were commended by the judges and particular mention was made of their S. Anselm’s emblem quarter marks (well done Jane Barton!).

They were wonderful ambassadors for the school and gained valuable experience in attending a top class equestrian competition.

If anyone is interested in joining the equestrian team please give me a call on 07821 919267.
