S. Anselm's first Dog and Pet Show Thursday 7th July

S. Anselm's first Dog and Pet Show Thursday 7th July

On Thursday 7th July, S. Anselm’s will be holding its first fun dog and pet show for the prep school, as well as the pre-prep.  There will be designated areas for all small pets in cages (eg rabbits and hamsters) to which you will be directed on the morning.  Exotic animals and birds (in cages) are also welcome and will be displayed and kept separately.  They will be judged throughout the morning in situ.  Although we would love to welcome all pets we would ask that no cats are brought in - with the number of dogs we expect to see here that day we could not guarantee their safety!

The show is open to all well socialised and immunised dogs of all ages, descriptions and backgrounds.  We anticipate a fun morning with a chance for parents and dogs to socialise together.  Bakewell pet shop will be there plus coffee from Jollys catering and bacon sarnies from our own College students.   All Houses will have a fundraising stall as well and parents are encouraged to bake ‘pet-themed’ goodies for everyone to buy (no nuts please).

Local canine experts will be leading the judging and it may well be an opportunity for us all to learn a little more about our canine friends.  A gun dog display will also take place at 9.00 a.m. to which everyone is welcome.

Judging of Class 1 will start at 9.30 a.m. on bottom field and the show should finish at approximately 11.30am with the best in show class.   Please could parents register their pets/dogs at 8.30am by the Sports Hall; children should go to their form room for registration as normal and will join you later when they have been dismissed by their form tutor.  Only one dog may be entered per child as well as one other pet.  There will be an area to exercise your dog on the field across the road (the overflow car park).

It is free to enter your dog(s) and the classes are as follows:

Class 1:                       Fancy dress

Class 2:                       Puppies (up to 12 months)

Class 3:                       Golden Oldies

Class 4:                       Looky- likey (dog looking the most like its owner)

Class 5:                       Best smile or waggiest tail

Class 6:                       Handsomest fella

Class 7:                       Loveliest lady

Class 8:                       Best in show (the dog the judge would like to take home)

Please note parents must remain with their dog at all times and are responsible for any mess.  Rosettes will be awarded to all participants.  If you have any queries please contact me direct on alex.edwards@anselms.co.uk.

With best wishes
