Visit from STEM Ambassador - Carl Owen
We were very lucky to have a visit from Carl Owen, a STEM Ambassador, and CEO of DSP Robotics earlier this week. Carl came to introduce the children to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and brought lots of gadgets for the children to see. He based his presentation on Flow Paw, a coding kit that makes it easy for anyone to learn programming by making their own gadgets and gizmos.
The children helped to invent heat activated fans and a motion activated alarm. They used the Flow Paw to play Space Invaders, control a car and programme disco lights. Programming was demonstrated and the children got an insight into the maths behind the various gadgets and games. The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole presentation, with lots of “Oohs” and “Aahs,” and were keen to find out as much as they could about the Flow Paw and its various applications. Many thanks to Carl for taking the time to come and inspire the children.
