STEM Ambassador visit to School Tuesday 9th February

STEM Visit to S. Anselm's

Carl Owen, STEM Ambassador, and CEO of D.S.P. Robotics, will be visiting school on Tuesday 9th February to speak to the children about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).  The role of STEM Ambassadors is to use their enthusiasm and commitment to encourage young people to enjoy STEM subjects. They open the doors to a world of opportunities and possibilities which come from pursuing STEM subjects and careers. All parents are warmly invited to attend a talk by Carl from 4.15-4.45pm on Tuesday 9th in the Hargreaves Hall.  Refreshments will be served in the library from 3.45pm.  Please could you email the office if you would like to attend.

The Junior Forms will be having an ‘Inventions Week’ to link in with Carl’s visit, and will be thinking about what they feel was the most important invention of the 20th century.  Throughout the project the children will be linking history, maths, science, ICT, geography and English in a real cross-curricular way, the culmination of which will be a presentation and whole school vote about which inventions the children think are the most significant.  The Junior Forms’ Thinking Skills Morning will now be merged with ‘Inventions Week’ so pupils will continue to have their usual lessons on Tuesday 2nd February.
