On Friday afternoon the children in Years 1 and 2 were very excited to see the interesting range of animals on show. We were impressed with the confidence the children showed, in either holding or touching the animals. They found out many interesting facts about each one, including if they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. The children then had the opportunity to ask questions, and this helped them to find out even more information about each animal.
Reception proved to be a courageous bunch handling the extremely long but beautiful Brazilian rainbow python, which slithered through their hands, flicking out its tongue in order to get a good smell of each child.
They enjoyed looking at the tarantula which thankfully stayed in her tank so she would not flick her tiny hairs at us. The giant African snail proved a big hit as it slimed over their hands and they loved the feel of the bearded dragon – very prickly and spikey.
