On Thursday 26th, members of Kinder visited Dowlow Quarry near Buxton as part of their careers programme. Here they met Mr Scott, regional manager, and Daran, the site manager. We talked about how important quarrying is to the area and how the uses of limestone range from building materials to an ingredient in bread! We toured around the massive site in 4x4 vehicles and Daran explained how important it is to keep production going by always optimising decisions. We also had a very clear explanation of how health and safety is far more important that productivity these days and that is why Dowlow has such a high safety record. It was an amazing trip and a really informative look into quarrying.
