Weekend Report 11th & 12th October

After and busy and eventful week many children were ready for a more laid-back weekend. Following fixtures on Saturday afternoon, the boarders had supper, tuck and then settled into Saturday Night Treat. Sunday started with a much appreciated lie-in for most, except for the few boys going for the Lambs rugby trials at Malvern. I am sure that the 6 o’clock start was both a shock for the competitors and for Mr Wood who took them! Everybody else enjoyed a cooked breakfast and then the selected runners set off for the Shrewsbury Hunt Cross Country Championships. The remaining boarders enjoyed a trip down to Bakewell with a smoothie from Costa and quick spin around the old-fashioned sweet shop. Gobstoppers seemed to be the sweet of choice this week with giant lollipops coming in a close second. The ever-resourceful Year 8s managed to make their £1.50s stretch a lot further than expected as they decided to spend their money elsewhere.

After lunch the children split up into two groups. One group fancied playing a card game tournament and the other group went to play in the park. Congratulations to Tom H who won the tournament, with Alex S a whisker away in second place. With so many out, we did not have the normal church service but we still found time for Karen and Sue’s amazing roast. The Malvern and Shrewsbury lot returned and informed every one of their accounts and successes before getting stuck into the roast themselves. Letter writing, reading and finishing off prep followed, with an early night to finish off a lovely weekend.
