On Tuesday Grace and Bella visited our very own “Welly The Elephant” at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital “Little Herd” charity event in the Winter Gardens in Sheffield. Welly took pride of place at the entrance to the Winter Gardens and Grace’s design and all of Y4’s hard work in decorating Welly looked magnificent!
Over seventy “Little Herd” elephants, which have been decorated by schools around Sheffield, are being positioned around the city for visitors to view from 11th July to 20th September. The girls managed to find a number of the other elephants on display in the Winter Gardens hidden amongst the foliage.
Fifty large elephants painted by local artists will also be on show across the city, and these larger elephants will be auctioned off in August to raise further money for the charity. So far the charity has raised £40,000. You can visit various venues in the city to view the elephants including outside John Lewis, the City Hall, Ponds Forge, the Crucible Theatre, Kelham Island. More information about specific locations and a map (Welly is number 55 on the map) can be found at http://www.herdofsheffield.com/
