the children in Year 2 have travelled back in time to 1666 to be Great Fire of
London detectives. They have used the internet, books, and pictures to
investigate what might have happened and consider why the fire spread so
quickly. Fun was had looking at Samuel Pepys’ clothing and important diary, as
well as discussing the credibility of an eye witness account.
framed style houses, collages of the fire,
newspaper reports, posters and
observational drawings of London buildings today have all been encountered. The
children enjoyed looking at photographs of The
Monument to The Fire, hardly believing it was possible to venture right to
the top of it, climbing hundreds of spiralling stairs. Maybe we could manage a
school visit there one day……..
