Year 4 were catapulted back to AD237 today and experienced bread - Celt style. They made fruit bread using flour, honey and fruits, using their mathematical skills to weigh and measure ingredients.
We then made a fire and cooked the bread. The final products were perhaps not up to ‘Bake Off’ standards, however everyone had a try and a few commented that it was tasty!
The children also spent time trying to imagine what it would have been like to have a fire in their round house in AD237 and to have to eat similar food. A thoroughly enjoyable and hands on experience as part of our project.
