Y4 Trip to Jorvik

Y4 Trip to Jorvik

The Year 4s have been learning about the Vikings this term and to really bring the subject to life we headed over to the Jorvik Viking Centre. It was a brilliant day. On the museum’s ride we got a real taste (literally) of what it was like to walk down a Viking street. There were disgusting smells, frightening sights and noises as the ride took us down each street with a running commentary. After lunch we learned about the Jorvik Dig and items which were around over 1000 years ago.

In our groups we suddenly transformed into young archaeologists where we unearthed different ages in history with the trowels. Our acting skills were then tested as a select group were chosen to perform a small sketch from Thor as we learned about the 9 worlds. A quick stop at York Minster for an ice cream topped off a tremendous trip and one which the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed.
