Year 3 Celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday!

Year 3 have made an enthusiatic start to the Prep School by studying the author Roald Dahl. They spent time finding out all about his life, from a young boy, to his time at Repton School, his job as a businessman, becoming a spy and a fighter pilot…and then finally a writer! The children collected all of their information together and then produced and booklet outlining all the important facts.

After reading a chapter from Fantastic Mr Fox, the children were then set the task to create a new farmer who lived just over the hill from the dreaded Boggis, Bunce and Bean.

We jotted down ideas and soon had created a brand new character for the story, complete with an illustration and detailed description. The posters were judged by Mrs Woolley and on Tuesday 13th September, which would have been Dahl’s 100th Birthday, we gathered round for the entries for the winner to be announced. Despite some stiff competition, Henry won with ‘Farmer Barny’ who was a Cat and Popcorn Farmer, with bright gold teeth and dark titanic eyes!
