Year 3's Spanish Fiesta
On the 17th October, Year 3 enjoyed a Spanish Fiesta as they recreated sunny Spain in Mrs Elvin’s classroom to celebrate a wonderful start to Spanish lessons this half term. The party was a great success and all the students enjoyed learning about Spanish culture. The children changed into their party clothes at break-time. Some of the girls wore beautiful flamenco dresses and the other pupils looked great in red and yellow t-shirts, their favourite team’s football strip and Mexican sombreros!
We then listened to some Spanish music whilst the children tasted and gave a rating to different Spanish foods, a job which was taken very seriously, and we later had a class discussion in Spanish about which foods they preferred. The feedback was very positive, with chorizo and olives a firm favourite. The students then went on to perform a song called Buenos Días, which they had prepared in class time, complete with actions.
Finally, after showing different Spanish objects from home, the Grande Finale, a go at whacking a piñata! The Year 3s cheered each other on as they had a go at hitting the piñata whilst blind-folded before the shower of sweets to round-off a lovely cultural afternoon!
